Salesforce NPSP for Connected Fundraising, Donor Data, and Impact Reporting

Salesforce NPSP for Connected Fundraising, Donor Data, and Impact Reporting

About the client

Human Concern International (HCI) is an international humanitarian nonprofit with a UK operation. It raises funds through online and offline channels, runs campaigns and appeals across multiple regions, and delivers field programs including water well installations.

The Summary

HCI asked us to make Salesforce the central operating system for its fundraising while keeping the specialist platforms it already relied on. We connected its website, payments, crowdfunding, and marketing systems into one donor record, then built the automation and data model behind guided donation entry, fund allocation, and impact reporting.

The Challenge

HCI's fundraising was growing, but the technology behind it sat in separate systems. Donations arrived through several channels and all of them had to connect back to the same donor, campaign, and fund. The organization needed one reliable process rather than a set of platforms that each held part of the picture.

  • Donations arrived through disconnected routes.

The website, donation forms, payment processing, crowdfunding platforms, and marketing systems each captured part of the story, so no single record held the whole donation.

  • A payment record was not enough.

Each gift carried information about donor, amount, frequency, campaign, attribution, fund, Gift Aid eligibility, and follow-up communication, and the previous setup could not hold those relationships together.

  • Offline fundraising bypassed the CRM.

Phone, in-person, event, and crowdfunding donations moved through spreadsheets before anyone updated the system, which broke consistency with online giving.

  • Attribution was lost in transit.

Donors who browsed the website before reaching the donation form arrived without their original source, so campaign performance was difficult to measure.

  • The platform stopped at the transaction.

Salesforce recorded what came in, but it could not connect a contribution to the field work it funded or show how much of a fund remained available.

The Solution

We built the implementation around the relationship between donor, donation, allocation, fund, and campaign. Our team connected GiveWP, Stripe, and Klaviyo to Salesforce, developed a guided Donation Wizard covering online and offline entry, and configured recurring giving, pledges, and multi-dimensional fund allocation. We added Gift Aid declaration, schedule, and claim structures for the UK operation, plus a Water Well system linking donations to field delivery.

The Outcome

  • Centralized the donor recordacross individual donors, institutional donors, and charity partners, with contact history, communication preferences, donation rollups, annual summaries, tax receipts, and deduplication and merge functionality.

  • Turned donation entry into a guided workflowthrough a ten-step Donation Wizard that identifies the donor, then captures donation type, payment method, channel, transaction ID, fundraiser, campaign source, allocation, location, intention, and tribute details.

  • Brought offline fundraising into the same processby giving staff a structured path for phone, in-person, event, and crowdfunding donations, including LaunchGood imports.

  • Preserved campaign attribution end to endby holding UTM source, medium, and campaign parameters in the browser and passing them into Salesforce when the donor completed a gift.

  • Connected contributions to field deliverythrough a Water Well record linked to the donation and its GAU allocation, capturing country, location, depth, beneficiary count, installation status, field feedback, and photos, then generating donor reports by email or post.

  • Gave leadership live reportingacross campaign performance, donation trends, fund allocations, and donor activity.
