MVP Development for a Same-Day Local Delivery Marketplace

MVP Development for a Same-Day Local Delivery Marketplace

About the client

Lowkel Marketplace, Inc. is a US online marketplace built around same-day delivery from local and regional businesses. Based in Portland, the company connects shoppers to nearby retailers and supports both local commerce and a lower-impact way of buying everyday essentials.

The Summary

Lowkel needed an MVP that proved same-day local delivery could work as a business. We designed and developed an integrated app suite for buyers, riders, and shop owners across iOS and Android, with a central backend keeping all three sides in sync. The MVP went on to secure the company's funding round.

MVP Development of Lowkel

The Challenge

The leadership saw a gap that nobody was serving. Local shops could reach customers, but only on conventional delivery timelines, which left shoppers waiting days for items sitting on a shelf a few miles away.

  • Same-day delivery had no local option

Specific consumer products were unavailable on the same day, which was the market gap Lowkel set out to close.

  • Local businesses were held to slow timelines

Conventional delivery schedules limited what local retailers could offer against larger competitors.

  • Funding depended on a working product

They needed an MVP that demonstrated the idea was feasible and worth backing, not a deck describing it.

  • Three user groups had to stay in sync

Buyers, riders, and shop owners each needed their own app, and all three had to work together in real time for a single order to be completed.

The Solution

We built an integrated system of applications for iOS and Android serving three distinct users. The buyers' app handles browsing, purchasing, and live delivery tracking. The riders app delivers tasks, routes, and status updates. The shop owner's app manages inventory, order processing, and delivery coordination. Our team implemented real-time synchronisation across all three, with a central backend managing the flow of information between them, supported by regular integration and testing.

The Outcome

  • Delivered the MVP that secured $250,000 in fundingfrom the Newchip Accelerator.

  • Built three connected appscovering buyers, riders, and shop owners, each designed around what that user actually does.

  • Kept all three sides in syncthrough a real-time synchronisation mechanism, so an order moves cleanly from purchase to dispatch to doorstep.

  • Impressed investors with the interfacesince the MVP led on ease of use rather than feature volume.

  • Showed the platform could scalewith practical features that met the needs of shoppers and local retailers at once.
